Pownal Tannery Superfund Site Demolition and Landfill ProjectMT was contracted to conduct demolition operations and on-site landfill activities and upgrades. After characterizing and disposing of several unknown drums containing heavy metals and solvents, MT conducted demolition activities that included a seven-phase removal of hazardous materials, demolishing the primary complex buildings, and loading out materials for off-site disposal. Prior to demolition, MT removed approximately 5,250 tons of contaminated soil and transported that soil to the on-site landfill for disposal. MT conducted the demolition activities in a sequential order using the exposed basement floor as a staging area to locate an excavator with extended boom to reach through the floor and grab material along the length of the building. A second excavator stationed on the ground level simultaneously reached into the material storage and transfer area to grab debris from the separated piles. MT conducted site landfill activities and operations on an expedited schedule in winter weather conditions, including upgrading the haul road, upgrading and operating the existing leachate pump system, and extensive debris handling, separation and transportation to the on-site landfill. "I have worked with many engineering and construction companies. Few equal the ability and competency your company provided on this project."
