Site Remediation Projects

GE Pittsfield Remediation Project Series
(190 Projects)

MT has served as the preferred prime contractor on a series of remediation and reconstruction efforts for the GE Pittsfield Complex in Pittsfield, MA. The extensive and complicated cleanup issues have created the longest standing regulatory and community debate within Massachusetts to date.

All projects in the GE series have primarily been located within or adjacent to the Housatonic River, and have involved multiple sheeting installations and the design of complex earth support systems. Many projects included dredging PCB contaminated soil and water using MT-owned long reach excavators and cranes located on shore. The key projects within this series include:

  • Housatonic River Upper Half Mile Project and Building 68 Sediment Excavation;
  • F.T. Rose NPL Superfund Site;
  • PCB-Contaminated Residential Properties;
  • TSCA Landfill Construction & Operation Project;
  • Allendale School PCB Removal & Site Remediation;
  • Deming Street Riverbank Excavation & Reconstruction;
  • GE 20s Complex Demolition & Site Remediation;
  • GE Building 100 Decontamination & Renovations;
  • GE Building 59 Demolition and Renovations;
  • GE Building 41 Decontamination & Demolition;
  • Building 12Y Decontamination O&M;
  • GE Building 31 Stacks & Tank Farm Demolition;
  • East Street Water Treatment Facility.
The Army Corps has provided Construction Oversight on the majority of projects that MT has completed on the Housatonic River. Site activities have included: cofferdam construction, dredging, sheeting installation, bank sediment excavation and off-site disposal, dewatering, water treatment, bank stabilization, erosion control measures, water diversion, outfall & swale installations, and site restoration.

"Maxymillian has consistently maintained the highest quality on all projects, completing the work in a productive, timely, and safe manner. They exhibit superior construction management skills and employ top quality supervisors and engineers." -Mr. Grant Bowman, Mgr. Environmental Engineering, GE
